Industry Updates
We get that you may be sick of chocolate after the Easter celebrations in April but there has been a shift in prices recently. After reaching an all-time high in 2024, global cacao prices are finally beginning to ease dropping by 33% this year. Prices, which peaked at £16,382 per ton by the end of 2024 have declined, falling to just under £6,000 per ton in early 2025.
Some good news stories!
We want to start ending on a high! So each month we will be showcasing some good news, it may be related to our industry, or just highlighting some good things going on in the world. So here’s your first hit of good news:
2025 saw a decrease in deforestation in the Amazon! Around 400km² of forest lost in the first three months, which is 20% lower than the first three months of 2024. And less than half that was lost in 2023, at 844 km². 🌳 🌍
Ancient Himalayan Water Temples (locally called Naulas) in Uttarakhand, a state in Northern India are being cared for and restored. This region battles with water scarcity so mountain communities have come together to look after the structures that protect their springs.💧 🇮🇳
That’s all from us for April! See you next month
