The Greetwell Plate: October

October 31, 2025

Pumpkins, crisp leaves, and hot chocolates can only mean one thing… Halloween is here! 👻 This October has been a busy one for the Greetwell team, as we’ve been out and about attending shows, supporting awards, and connecting with people across the care catering sector. Take a look at what we’ve been up to this month!

We kicked off the month at the National Association Of Care Catering (NACC)Training & Development Forum. We heard from keynote speakers, watched some great cooking demonstrations and celebrated all the finalists and winners!

That was quickly followed by The Care Show at the NEC in Birmingham, where we connected with others in the care sector and showcased what we do best (and yes our tote bags were a big hit!)

The next event took us to Harrogate for the Care Management Matters (CMM) insights: Independent Care Group annual conference. The day was full of latest updates and discussions around adult social care.

A massive congratulations to all the nominees and winners at the 2025 Vegetarian for Life awards! It was a pleasure to support this charity and attend the show down in London.

We rounded off the month with a trip to Rugby for the Creed Foodservice Ltd Catering Care Forum, which discussed the IDDSI framework and quick ways to add more protein and nutrients to residents’ snacks.

A Care Home Horror Story (don’t worry it ends well)

Imagine it’s a dark foggy winter morning. A Monday to make matters worse. And you’re checking through the week’s deliveries when you spot it. No milk. No delivery. No milk man milk.Nothing.The kitchen staff waited. Then hesitated. Then panicked. The care home was in hysterics. No milk for porridge, or coffee, or cookies. In a crisis, you don’t call the Ghostbusters, you call Greetwell.

Greetwell stepped in, resolved the issue and saved the day. By midday snack break, the milk was delivered. The real horror in care homes isn’t chaos, it’s the risk of instability. Delivery failures, shifting prices and last minute scrambles that pulls staff away from care into crisis mode.

How can we help with that?

  • We work with trusted national and local suppliers
  • Check pricing without compromising quality
  • Source replacements when things go wrong
